Halloween in the Quad Cities has a short season and a long list of options. Some haunted houses only open on weekend nights, some fill up their fast-pass slots early, and some are only worth it if you love standing in line in the cold. If you are trying to plan a scare for this year, here is a practical guide to the haunted houses running around the QC in 2026, plus one you can do indoors, on a weeknight, in 25 minutes.
That last one is ours. At Virtual Ventures, inside NorthPark Mall in Davenport, our free-roam VR arena turns into a haunted house all October long. More on that below.
Haunted Houses in the Quad Cities This Year
Terror at Skellington Manor (Rock Island)
One of the best-known haunts in the area, at 420 18th Street in Rock Island. For 2026 it runs October 2 through November 1, Friday and Saturday from 7 pm to midnight and Sunday from 7 to 10 pm. General admission is listed at $25 and a timed Fast Pass at $35. Check their ticket page before you go, since nightly schedules can shift.
Factory of Fear (Moline)
A long-running Moline haunt at 5027 4th Ave, open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October. Admission has covered both Factory of Fear and its second haunt, Fear Underground. Check their website for this year's prices and hours.
Ghost Tours in Downtown Rock Island
If your group prefers spooky stories to jump scares, QC Haunts and History runs guided ghost and history tours that start in downtown Rock Island. It is a good warm-up before a late-night haunt, or a calmer pick for anyone who doesn't want to be chased.
The Haunted House You Can Do in 25 Minutes: Insanity: The Haunting
Traditional haunted houses are a weekend-night commitment. Ours runs during regular hours, takes 25 minutes, and doesn't care what the weather is doing.
Insanity: The Haunting drops you and up to five friends into Dr. Nikolov's cursed asylum. You walk the space for real, wearing a VR headset, while the asylum closes in around you. You solve occult puzzles, stick together, and try to make it out. Because you move through a real arena instead of sitting in a chair, the scares hit differently. There is nowhere to look away.
This October it is $10 instead of the usual $20. Groups of 2 to 6 play together, so it works for a date, a friend group or a family with older kids. Book a time or walk in when we have space.
Why a VR Haunted House Works for Groups
- Everyone goes through together. No getting split up in a line or separated in the dark.
- You pick the time. Weeknight evenings, Saturday mornings, or right after school. No waiting for the sun to go down.
- It is indoors. Cold, rain or wind, it doesn't matter.
- It is short and intense. 25 minutes, then you are back in the lobby comparing who screamed loudest.
More Halloween at Virtual Ventures
$5 Haunted Rides on the Dragon Rider
Our four-person VR Dragon Rider has haunted rides all October, and they are just $5 per person. It is a quick, easy scare for anyone who wants the thrill without the full haunted house, and riders as young as 5 can join.
Mansion of Death: A Horror Escape Room
Want something longer? Mansion of Death is our 45-minute horror escape room. Your team explores an abandoned mansion, solves puzzles room by room and tries to escape before time runs out. It is $40 per player for 2 to 6 players, and it is the one to book if your group loves escape rooms and spooky season in equal measure.
Zombie Survival Games
If your idea of Halloween is fighting back, our zombie survival games put your crew in the middle of the horde. Rush Z and Zombie Urban Factory are 30-minute, wave-based survival games: grab a weapon, cover your teammates and hold out as long as you can.
Halloween Weekend Hours
We are open Friday, October 30 from 12 to 8 pm, Saturday, October 31 from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday, November 1 from 12 to 6 pm. Costumes are welcome. It is the last weekend for the $10 haunted house and the $5 Dragon Rider haunted rides, so book ahead if you are bringing a group.
